Credit Action releases daily debt statistics

The debt charity Credit Action has announced a series of facts and figures, breaking down bad credit, mortgage arrears, and repossession.

The statistics show that today, 2,430 County Court Judgements will be issued.

18,000 credit card applications will be rejected.

The average household debt, including secured loans, is £59,670.

Personal debt, meanwhile, increased by £1 million every 10 minutes in 2008.

This sounds bad, but I think the increase in debt is slowing down (though still increasing). Lenders are far more cautious, and repayment rates are dropping.

60k of debt per household… no wonder everyone seems so worried. At least their repayments should be going down though.

  3. Cam Says:

My guess is that personal debt will spike for a bit as the recession bites, then drop because no one can find a new loan.
